After years of sitting behind the glow of a monitor, I was ready to get my hands dirty again and have complete creative freedom. So I opened a print shop.

Located in the popular Blue Dome Arts District, we became a destination for creative renegades. I enjoyed teaching workshops and we had awesome interns. Clients became great friends. It was physically hard and dangerous work. It was just what I needed.

It’s traditional to name your presses women’s names. Weighing in at 2000 lbs we named our first Chandler & Price platen press Beatrice, “the beast.” I won her at an auction in Lake of The Ozarks which was televised on a History Channel Show. My second press was smaller and was named for my always-busy farmer Grandmother, Matilda.
